The Somerset Hills Soccer Club (SHSC) announces this year’s recipients of the SHSC/Jack Kimzey Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to one male and one female graduating senior pursuing college or trade school after high school. The Somerset Hills Soccer Club/Jack Kimzey Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Jack Kimzey, a Basking Ridge youth, who died in 2006. Jack was an avid soccer player and a member of the Club for several years.
SHSC received numerous applications this year. The two high school seniors selected are both recognized as individuals who demonstrated personal characteristics that made those around them better players and better people. They have been involved with the SHSC for many years and participated in the Junior Kickers, Intramurals, and Travel programs.
The 2014 scholarship recipients are Erica Lindsey and Michael Schumacher, both of whom reside in Basking Ridge and are seniors at Ridge High School. Erica was involved with SHSC programs for 10 years, both as a player and as a referee, and is known for her outstanding character, sportsmanship, and leadership abilities. She will be attending Boston College in the fall. Michael played on SHSC teams for 8 years and consistently demonstrated strong sportsmanship and respect and support for his coaches and teammates. Michael will be attending Virginia Tech this fall.
The Somerset Hills Soccer Club and Kimzey family congratulate Erica and Michael on their accomplishments, thank them for their contributions to SHSC, and wish them continued success and much happiness in their future endeavors
