3/26/2010 Storm Defeats East Brunswick Green Devils 2-1

Storm 2, Green Devils 1 - The SHSC U9 girls Storm began their spring season by defeating a very tough East Brunswick Green Devil team 2-1.  After dropping behind 1-0 early in the second half, the Storm rallied behind goals from Amanda Krest and Megan Becker with assists from Grace Pascarella and Morgan Lyons.  The Storm defense held firm with outstanding efforts from Grace Pascarella, Caroline McEnroe, Zoe Papandreou, Megan Becker and Mackie McEnroe.

Bridgewater Kick-Off Classic Tournament - September 11-12, 2010
Flight Champions

       The SHSC Storm (U9 Girls) was undefeated this weekend at the Bridgewater Kick-Off Classic Tournament.  The Storm racked up a combined score of 29-2 in winning their four matches!  In their first match, the girls defeated the Scotch Plains Fanwood Express 6-1.  Goals for the Storm were scored by Amanda Krest, Mackie McEnroe(2), Grace Pascarella, and Grace Sedlazek(2).  Later that day the girls defeated the Watchung Hills SA Jaguars 7-0.  Goals for the Storm were scored by Megan Becker, Amanda Krest(2), Caroline McEnroe, Grace Pascarella, and Zoe Papandreou(2).  On the morning of the second day, the girls overpowered the Berkeley Heights SC Blue Lightning 7-1.  Megan Becker(2), Amanda Krest(3), Caroline McEnroe, and Grace Pascarella scored the goals for the Storm.  In their final game of the tournament, the Storm defeated the Berkeley Heights SC Mustangs by a score of 9-0.  Goals for the Storm were scored by Megan Becker, Erin Fay, Janie Islinger(2), Morgan Lyons, Mackie McEnroe, Emma Mertz, and Grace Pascarella(2).  Coach McEnroe said, “We’re quite pleased that the Storm won their flight in the Bridgewater Tournament especially considering this was our first time playing together as a new team.  We’re looking forward to a great season!”

9/19/2010 Storm Defeats Watchung Hills Jaguars 1-0

        The SHSC Storm (U9 girls) won their first game of the fall season by defeating the Watchung Hills Jaguars 1-0.  Grace Sedlazek scored late in the second half to give the Storm the victory.

9/26/2010 Storm Defeats Cranford Soccer Club Sparx 4-1

        The SHSC Storm (U9 girls) continued the strong start to their season with a 4-1 defeat of the Cranford Soccer Club Sparx on Sunday, September 26th.  After giving up an early goal to the Sparx, the Storm rallied back with four goals scored by Amanda Krest (2), Caroline McEnroe, and Grace Sedlazek.  Caroline McEnroe’s strong performance in goal during the second half prevented the Sparx from scoring again and helped ensure the Storm’s victory.

10/3/2010 Storm Defeats Westfield Super Eagles 2-0

      The SHSC Storm (U9 girls) continued their undefeated season with a 2-0 win over the Westfield Super Eagles on Sunday, October 3rd.  The Storm was able to shut out the Super Eagles on the strong defensive play by Zoe Papandreou, Amanda Krest, Megan Becker and Erin Fay.  Goals for the Storm were scored by Emma Mertz and Meaghan "Mackie" McEnroe.  

10/10/2010 Storm Loses First Game of the Season to the East Brunswick United Girl Power 1-4
10/17/2010 Storm Defeats Cougar Soccer Club Red Paws 3-0

      The Storm defeated the Cougar Soccer Club Red Paws by a score of 3-0 in their first home game of the season on Sunday, October 17th.  The Storm’s two goals in the first half were scored by Amanda Krest, with assists from Grace Pascarella and Janie Islinger.  In the second half Emma Mertz scored the goal for the Storm, assisted by Zoe Papandreou.  Strong defensive play by Grace Sedlazek, Meaghan “Mackie” McEnroe, Caroline McEnroe, Erin Fay and Megan Becker sealed the shutout for the Storm.

 

10/23/2010 Storm Participates in Mt. Olive Halloween Tournament

Storm 0, Denville Hub Lightning 1 - The U9 girls faced stiff competition in the Mt Olive Tournament, dropping their first match 1-0 in a tight game against the Denville Hub Lightning on Saturday, October 23.  Strong defensive play by Megan Becker, Zoe Papandreou, Amanda Krest and Grace Sedlazak kept the Storm in the game, but the offense struggled to score against the tough Lightning defense.

Storm 2, Roxbury Arsenal 2 - The U9 girls came from behind to battle to a tie in their second match of the Mt. Olive tournament against the Roxbury Arsenal. Both goals for the Storm were scored by Amanda Krest with assists from Erin Fay and Meaghan "Mackie" McEnroe.

10/24/2010 Storm Loses to Franklin Township SC Force 1-2

Storm 1, SC Force 2 - The U9 girls lost a tightly fought game to the Franklin Township SC Force 2-1 on Sunday, October 24.  The exciting game was a 1-1 tie until late in the 4th quarter.  Both teams battled hard to the very end with both teams threatening to score numerous times, but it was the Force who scored with just a few minutes left to win the game.  The goal for the Storm was scored by Amanda Krest with an assist from Caroline McEnroe.  Strong defense by Megan Becker and Janie Islinger kept the Storm in the game until the very end.  The referee was quoted as saying "anyone who says U9 soccer doesn’t matter should have been here to see this game - it was the most competitive U9 game he has seen all season".

10/31/2010 Storm Defeats Watchung Hills Starz 4-0

Storm 4, Starz 0 - The U9 girls defeated the Watchung Hills Starz 4-0 in their MNJYSA game on October 31st.  The Storm's three goals in the first half were scored by Erin Fay, Amanda Krest and Meaghan "Mackie" McEnroe.  Megan Becker crushed a fourth goal late in the second half on Janie Islinger's second assist of the day.  Morgan Lyons dominated the mid-field for the Storm while Grace Pascarella and Zoe Papandreou sealed the shutout on defense.

11/7/2010 Storm Defeats Clark Angels 3-0

 Storm 3, Angels 0 - In their fifth shutout victory of the regular season, the SHSC U9 girls Storm defeated the Clark Angels 3-0 in their MNJYSA game on November 7th.  Megan Becker scored the first goal for the Storm with an assist by Amanda Krest.  Amanda added a second goal in the first half, assisted by Grace Pascarella.  Amanda added the final goal for the Storm in the second half with an assist from Zoe Papandreou.  Strong play by Erin Fay, Meaghan “Mackie” McEnroe, Caroline McEnroe and Grace Sedlezak on defense enabled the Storm to hold the Angels scoreless.

11/14/2010 Storm Defeats Hunterdon United Dynamo 3-1

Storm 3, Dynamo 1 – The SHSC U9 girls Storm defeated the Hunterdon United Dynamo in their MNJYSA game on November 14th.  Amanda Krest scored on an assist from Grace Sedlazek.  Meaghan “Mackie” McEnroe scored on an assist from Amanda and Erin Fay scored the final goal on another assist from Grace.  Megan Becker, Zoe Papandreou and Caroline McEnroe played strong on defense while Janie Islinger and Morgan Lyons controlled the midfield.
